Game culture: Tomonobu Itagaki (“Dead or Alive”) founds his own studio

Tomonobu Itagaki, responsible for the fighting game series Dead or Alive, has founded his own studio. As the extroverted designer with a penchant for sunglasses reports on Facebook, it goes by the name of Itagaki Games.

Already in 2008 he had separated from his long-term employer Tecmo in a dispute and later stated that he felt deceived by the company. Both parties were finally able to reach an out-of-court settlement after mutual charges. Itagaki then founded its own game company with Valhalla Game Studios, but only released one game with Devil's Third, which disappointed in our test with a rating of 55%. After a short break, he now wants to return to game development, but Itagaki has not yet officially announced a new project.
